This a remodeling of an existing house built in the 90’s, located in an area with high density population, in Pantelimon city. A house that did not serve anymore the needs of a couple who wanted to couver the necessities of the new born baby.
The operation that we proposed to them was, instead of enlarging the house, to optimize it and to keep the existing green area to design furthermore a pool, terrace, garden and orchard. The house needed that clear, quiet courtyard, isolated from the city outside.
The project design balances the simplicity of rectilinear forms and raw materials such as concrete, steel and glass with elegant, detailed interiors. Only the structure of the building, as well as part of the external walls, are preserved, while all internal walls are demolished. The front facade is deliberately closed with a concrete wall creating a sense of protection from the street.
Large sliding glass windows transforming the living room into a huge terrace opening onto a green space, erase the separation between inside and outside.
This clean, modern adaptive reuse and house renovation is an honest witness to its existence in today’s realm, and not a throwback replica of the past.
